When I first met Dr Chan I had two full pages of questions for him. He had answered them all during our consult before I had asked even one question. Dr Chan gave me a left hip replacement (anterior approach) nearly a year ago. Within 30 minutes of waking up, I was walking up and down the corridor. The next morning I walked half a mile and had a few minutes on an exercise bike. Within 2 months I managed to complete my pack test for wildland fire fighting which entailed a 2 mile walk in under 30 minutes carrying 25lb in weight and I was far from fit. The day before my surgery, I couldn't even put my own shoe on. I hadn't walked without a limp in nearly 10 years and I can't even remember the last time I ran anywhere. As an outpatient, it was by far, the easiest, quickest and most pain free operation I had ever had, and I'd already had my hip shaved (somewhere else) which was a complete nightmare. Dr Chan was very caring and kind and the staff were absolutely wonderful.
